Welcome to DementiaLove
Living with dementia is hard – painfully hard. Constant change and loss for the individuals living with dementia and the people who love them can be confusing, exhausting, scary and, sometimes incredibly beautiful. I know this from first-hand experience.

I'm Catherine - that's me on the right when I was three with my mom, Anne. For most of the time we will share on this site, we're going to fast forward about 60 years where Mom is almost 90 and I'm significantly older than three!
Both my parents were diagnosed with vascular dementia. My father died five years ago. My mom is currently living with the disease.
Like most families, my mom and I have shared a lot – birthdays, holidays, goodbyes and the many experiences that bring meaning to life. These days we are sharing what we both know is her final chapter. It's an unpredictable ride full of love and loss, laughter and tears. Helping Mom through this transition is easily one of the most difficult things I've ever done.

DementiaLove is a resource for those living with dementia
This includes caregivers and the people they love. The core of DementiaLove is a collection of stories that reflect the journey we are sharing and the lessons we've learned along the way. It is meant to be a source of hope, inspiration, and information. My goal is to offer direct links to practical insights and tools that we discovered or developed so you can spend more time with the person you love.

Welcome and thank you for sharing our journey.
I hope our stories help you navigate your own journey, provide comfort, and reveal the rich rewards of dementia love.
Please note: I am not a healthcare professional. I am a daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend who has the desire to help people as best I can and a unique set of skills to do so. Most of my career has been spent running national health charities. These days, I am dedicated to the woman with whom I shared a life full of joy, adventure, and fulfillment. None of the information on this site is meant to or should replace the recommendations of your health team.
